About the Artist
ŞS

Born amid the vibrant colors of Turkey's Aegean coast, Şevket Sönmez has spent four decades pursuing emotional truth through paint.

His work — deeply rooted in the landscapes and spiritual traditions of Anatolia — transcends cultural boundaries to speak a universal language of light, shadow, and human longing. Sönmez's distinctive technique blends classical oil painting with contemporary abstraction.

His paintings have been exhibited in over 40 countries, from the Grand Palais in Paris to the Museum of Contemporary Art in Tokyo. He is represented by Galerie Perrotin in Paris and New York.
